Private Santorini Wine Tour & Sunset Dinner at Santo Wines

Duration: 5

Overview

Three wineries. Twelve tastings. One unforgettable sunset dinner on the caldera.

This private Santorini wine tour combines an afternoon of in-depth winery visits with one of the island’s most celebrated dining experiences — a 3-course sunset dinner at Santo Wines, perched on the caldera cliffs as the sun descends over the Aegean.

What makes this tour genuinely different is the choice it offers. You visit three wineries over five hours — the third is always the iconic Santo Wines, where your dinner awaits. But the first two are yours to select from a curated list of nine of Santorini’s finest producers, each with its own story, style, and setting. Whether you’re drawn to one of the island’s oldest family estates, a cutting-edge coastal winery in a converted tomato factory, or a boutique organic producer in the volcanic vineyards, you choose the experience that fits your taste.

Guided throughout by an expert certified sommelier, you will taste 12 premium local wines, learn about Santorini’s extraordinary volcanic viticulture, and discover why this small Aegean island produces wines that are celebrated around the world — before sitting down to a beautifully paired dinner as the sky turns gold.

For wine enthusiasts, couples, and anyone looking for the most complete sunset wine experience in Santorini, this is it.

What to Expect

Why choose this Santorini wine tour & sunset dinner

Most wine tours take you to the same two or three wineries. This one asks you which two you want to visit — then makes it happen.

Santorini has a remarkable concentration of exceptional producers, each with a distinct character: some historic family estates bottling wines from the same volcanic terroir for over a century, others modern coastal operations pushing the boundaries of what Santorini wine can be. The ability to choose your first two stops from a list of nine means the tour is genuinely tailored to your palate — whether you want to go deep into Assyrtiko, explore the rare Vinsanto dessert wine, or discover the small-production natural wines that are putting Santorini on a new map.

And then there is the finale. Santo Wines is arguably the most iconic wine destination on the island — its terrace perched directly on the caldera cliff, its 3-course dinner a considered celebration of local produce and volcanic wine. As the sun sets over the Aegean, this is the kind of evening that most guests describe as the highlight of their entire trip to Greece.

You will:

  • Choose your own wine journey from Santorini’s best producers
  • Taste 12 premium volcanic wines with a certified sommelier
  • Learn the story behind Santorini’s extraordinary wine culture
  • End the evening with a 3-course sunset dinner at Santo Wines
  • Watch the caldera sunset from one of the world’s great viewpoints
  • Travel completely privately — only your group, no shared tours

Full description

Your tour begins with pickup from your hotel, port, airport, or the nearest accessible meeting point. Your certified sommelier and private vehicle will be ready at a time that allows you to visit both chosen wineries before arriving at Santo Wines for the sunset.

At your first chosen winery, your sommelier will introduce the producer — its history, its vineyards, and its approach to winemaking in Santorini’s challenging volcanic conditions. You will taste a selection of the winery’s signature wines, learning to identify the flavours, aromas, and characteristics that volcanic terroir produces: the piercing minerality, the bright acidity, and the extraordinary concentration that comes from vines that have been grown here for centuries.

At your second chosen winery, the tasting continues — and the comparison begins. Your sommelier will draw out the similarities and contrasts between the two producers, helping you understand not just what you are tasting but why Santorini’s wines taste the way they do. By the time you leave the second stop, you will have a real sense of the range and depth of winemaking on the island.

Santo Wines is the evening’s destination and its culmination. Perched on the caldera cliff with panoramic views of the submerged volcano, the islands of Thirassia and Nea Kameni, and the open Aegean beyond, it provides one of the most spectacular dinner settings in the Mediterranean. Your 3-course dinner draws from local farming produce — dishes built around Santorini’s distinctive ingredients and flavours — each course paired with wines selected to complement and elevate it. As the light changes and the sun descends toward the horizon, the evening reaches the moment the whole day has been building toward.

Itinerary

On this tour, you will enjoy three of the island's most distinctive wineries.

Choose two from the list below, and the third will be the renowned Santo Wines, where you'll savor a deluxe three-course dinner while enjoying the sunset.

Gavalas Winery

One of Santorini's oldest and most respected family estates, located in Megalochori. Gavalas specializes in small-production wines crafted from native grape varieties — Assyrtiko, Aidani, Mandilaria, and the rare Mavrotragano — with an emphasis on preserving the island's ancient winemaking traditions. An ideal choice for guests who want to go deep into Santorini's heritage varieties.

Artemis Karamolegos Winery

Founded in 1952 and now one of the island's most established producers, Artemis Karamolegos has grown to become Santorini's third-largest winery while maintaining a strong connection to the island's volcanic vineyards and traditional practices. Its award-winning wines — particularly its Assyrtiko — are among the most reliably impressive on the island.

Gaia Wines

One of Santorini's most innovative producers, Gaia occupies a beautifully converted 1900s tomato factory on the east coast between Kamari and Monolithos, right on the beach. Its approach blends respect for Santorini's ancient viticultural traditions with cutting-edge modern winemaking — and its seafront setting is unlike any other winery on the island.

Estate Argyros

Established in 1903 and now the largest private vineyard owner on Santorini with over 120 hectares, Estate Argyros is one of the island's most celebrated and internationally recognized producers. Its Assyrtiko and Vinsanto are benchmark wines — essential tasting for anyone who wants to understand what Santorini wine is capable of at its best.

OENO P Winery

Located by the sea near the Kolumbo submarine volcano in Oia, OENO P is one of Santorini's newer but already internationally acclaimed producers. Established in 2017, it crafts wines from Assyrtiko, Athiri, and Aidani with a focus on elegance and precision — and its coastal location and views are among the most dramatic of any winery on the island.

Domaine Sigalas

One of the most prominent and internationally recognized Greek wine producers, Domaine Sigalas has done more than almost any other estate to put Santorini Assyrtiko on the world map. Its award-winning wines are exported globally, and a tasting here gives guests a direct encounter with the wines that have shaped the international reputation of Santorini as a wine region.

Santo Wines

Santo Wines is Santorini's largest and most iconic wine cooperative, founded in 1947 and representing hundreds of growers across the island. Its terrace — perched directly on the caldera cliff — offers one of the most spectacular views in the Mediterranean, and its 3-course dinner is a genuine celebration of Santorini's produce, gastronomy, and wine culture. This is where your evening ends, as the sun sets over the Aegean and the caldera glows.
